Hungary prevents Ukraine

Hungary prevents Ukraine from joining NATO. Such a statement was made by the head of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council Oleksandr Turchynov. In his opinion, the Hungarian authorities are trying to block the work of the joint commission with the alliance in Brussels, and also prevent the country from entering the EU. However, in Budapest they do not deny that they exert pressure on Kiev, but emphasize that the Ukrainian side itself has brought relations to such a degree of degradation. The reason for this, the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, clarifies the law on education, which limits the ability of citizens to learn in the languages of national minorities. RT talked with the inhabitants of Transcarpathia and found out what they think about the language issue and self-identification.
The conflict between Hungary and Ukraine continues to gain momentum. This time, the head of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Oleksandr Turchynov made accusations against Budapest.
“Unfortunately, Hungary has recently inserted, I would say, not even a stick, but a log into the wheels of our Euro-Atlantic integration. But I hope that after all the Ukraine-NATO commission at the highest level will be held. Political games in Budapest should not harm the security of Europe, “Turchinov said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
On June 21, the Verkhovna Rada deputies voted for the law “On National Security”, over which the people’s representatives worked for more than a year. Now all power structures of Ukraine will be translated into NATO standards. The military-political leadership of Kiev by all means achieves increased support from the alliance in the fight against Russia. It is possible for Hungary to interfere with this in Ukraine.
Earlier, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Siyarto stated that the meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Commission depends on the Ukrainian authorities. According to him, if the Ukrainian government “returns the violated rights of the Hungarians,” Budapest will not be against the meeting of the commission.
As the experts note, the task of President Petro Poroshenko is to get to the NATO summit in Brussels and agree on the allocation of military assistance to Ukraine to further repel “Russian aggression”, therefore, the Kyiv authorities must urgently sit at the negotiating table with the Hungarians and settle all differences on the language issue.
Meanwhile, a number of Ukrainian media reported that officials and representatives of the Hungarian national minority in the near future are planning to hold talks in Transcarpathia on the normalization of relations between ethnic Hungarians and the authorities. Perhaps, Kiev will provide some guarantees and will make some concessions on the language issue, experts believe. According to the source RT in the Ukrainian Cabinet, if the representatives of Kiev and Budapest can agree, the Hungarian side will not block the negotiation process with NATO and the Ukrainian delegation headed by Poroshenko will go to the summit, which will be held in Brussels on July 11-12.
