Syria latest war news for the February 24

As a result of the explosion in the canton of Afrin, the SFA (opposing government forces) lost two of its militants to the wounded. Islamists continue to provoke clashes with the SAA in North Hama. Turkey sent building materials to Idlib to strengthen observation posts, a military source from the Federal News Agency (FAN) in Syria, Ahmad Marzuk (Ahmad Marzouq), said.

Briefly on the outcome of the confrontation:

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and allied forces: retaliated against Islamist positions near the city of Khan Sheikhoun in the southern part of Idlib; came under fire from the radicals north of Hama.

“Islamic State” 1: Suspected of organizing a terrorist attack on a highway south of the city of Hasakah.

Syrian Free Army (SFA): lost two militants wounded in an explosion in the canton of Afrin in north-west Aleppo.

Turkish Army: redeployed building materials to strengthen the observation points at the borders of the “Big Idlib”.

Aleppo Province.

A military source on Twitter (@huseyinbozan) reports a new explosion in the territories occupied by pro-Turkish armed forces. IEDs detonated near the Burdj Haydar settlement in the canton of Afrin. It is noted that the bomb was laid on the side of the highway and activated at the time of the passage of the car of the Free Syrian Army (FSA), as a result of which at least two Islamist groups were injured. Activists of the armed opposition believe that the responsibility for the installation of an explosive device lies on the “sleeping cells” of the Popular Self-Defense Detachments (YPG) operating within the framework of Operation Anger of the Olives. Recall that the Kurdish radicals have begun underground attacks in the control zones of the militants supported by Turkey after the loss of Afrin.

Idlib Province.

In the southern part of the province of Idlib, armed clashes between militants of illegal gangs and government forces continue. According to the Twitter feed (@rofoca_lucifuge), parts of the Syrian Arab Army (CAA) are firing at military targets of the Jyhadists of the Hayat Tahrir Ash-Sham terrorist coalition formed around Dzhebhat Al-Nusra 1, in the vicinity of the village Khan Sheikhoun. As is well known, government forces attacked in response to provocative shelling by militants in the demilitarized zone. Recall that after most of the “Big Idlib” came under the control of “Al-Nusra” in the first two weeks of January, armed clashes on the contact line of the parties’ forces noticeably became more frequent.

In the meantime, Turkey continues to strengthen its observation posts located in the border area with the neighboring province of Hama. As a military source (@Kyruer) reports on his Twitter page, trucks with building materials have already arrived in Idlib.

Province of Hama.

The militants, detachments of which are stationed in the north-west of the region, continue to conduct provocative shelling of the territories under the control of the Syrian Arab Army (CAA). According to the information of the Internet portal Masar Press Agency, the town of Safsafia was under the fire of jihadists. Information on possible casualties among the local population is still being specified. Thus, the Islamists do not cease to violate the cease-fire regime operating in the buffer zone, the boundaries of which were determined during the meeting of the presidents of the Russian Federation and Turkey Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, held in September last year in Sochi.

Province of Hasakah.

SANA News news agency reports that an explosion occurred to the south of the administrative center of Hasaka province. The bomb was laid on the highway leading to the settlement of An-Nasrat, and worked at the time of the passage of the car with civilians, as a result of which at least two people were injured. It is noted that the victims were taken to the nearest hospital. According to preliminary information, an explosive device was installed by jihadists of the so-called “sleeping cells” of the “Islamic state”, carrying out underground activities in the areas occupied by the Democratic Forces of Syria (SDF).
